6th World Congress on Targeting Phage Therapy
The 6th World Congress on Targeting Phage Therapy 2023 will be held on 1-2 June, 2023. Experts from all over the world will gather to discuss the latest developments in the field of phage therapy. This meeting will cover a wide range of topics related to phages and phage therapy, including their history, use in different countries, and their potential for both prophylactic and therapeutic applications. One of the highlights of the conference will be a short talk by Adam Ostrowski, our Technical Application Specialist, entitled “Implementing GMP Manufacturing for Phage Therapy”.
This presentation will focus on the use of GMP manufacturing for phage therapy, and how it can help ensure the safety and efficacy of phage-based treatments. Phages can be used in a variety of ways and can also be used in combination with antibiotics to enhance their effectiveness. Additionally, phages are specific to certain bacterial strains, which means they can be tailored to target specific pathogens without harming beneficial bacteria in the body.
Phages require careful handling and production to ensure their safety and effectiveness. The CellMaker system is designed for GMP manufacturing of phage therapy products, ensuring high-quality and consistent production of phages for therapeutic use.
Using the CellMaker for phage therapy offers several benefits:
- Provides a controlled environment for phage production means phages are produced in a consistent manner.
- Reduced risk of contamination in use with single-use bags
- Easily scalable which is essential for large-scale production or commercialization.
- Reduced costs associated with phage production (cleaning and sterilisation)
making these therapies more accessible to patients.
The 6th World Congress on Targeting Phage Therapy 2023 is an important event taking place at IRIS.
